| I had to do at least one joke on the whole 72 Virgins thing. It seems so adolescent to think there is a harem awaiting you in heaven, which is why they can get young Muslim men to blow themselves up. And if sex is ultimately for procreation, then what would be the purpose of it in Heaven? I'll have to try to delve more into the Koran without falling asleep but it seems to me that if you want the afterlife to be tranquil and quiet you would do away with sex. Sex, and I'm not trying to knock the act itself, causes all kinds of earthly problems including a lot of jealousy, unsatisfied desire and plenty of fistfights and nail scratching. You take the good with the bad. The only way to keep Heaven serene is to do away with sex, and be bored. Also, if you have to please 72 virgins and you aren't good at sex or have been cheated physically in the department that counts, then all you're going to have is 72 disappointed women who are going to swoon for infidel bad boys like Brad Pitt. |
