AN ATHEIST PRAYS TO JESUS VIDEO YourReligionSucks.blogspot.com Would saying a prayer to Jesus of Nazareth convert an atheist?
A Christian put this atheist to the test. And yes, this made me laugh.
I've long suspected that many Christians, while not acknowleding it, are engaging in casting spells. When you think a set of words will force God's hand or somehow push the right buttons so God will respond, then there is no difference between prayer and magic. If God is an intelligent, all knowing being he doesn't need prayer requests. He may need ego boosts in the form of worship, but not prayer requests. He knows what you need and should provide. That is if he exists.
The magic element doesn't stop with just words. It also has to do with how many times people say their prayers or how many people a church body can get to pray on a certain subject. Like prayer circles for instance. When someone is injured the prayer circle gets on the phone and has everyone in the chain pray at once for this person to heal; the more the circle has praying the more potent the "magic." It's not enough that one person prays for healing, it has to do with numbers. This is magical thinking. If God is benevolent and again intelligent, numbers would not matter. The situation of the individual would and unless God is apathetic he would not have to be begged to help anyone. He would not even have to be notified.
