APOLOGETICS 4: Miracle Birth

When women give birth is it really a miracle of God?
| Why is giving birth a "miracle"? It's a biological process. I know creationists are going to say then that God created the process. But from an intelligent design perspective could He not have created a better process? If it weren't for medical science a certain percentage of women might die horrible deaths with their unborn child still stuck in the womb. It's probably a silly thought, but if I were a woman I'd rather lay an egg than try to shoot out the final product. I've never seen a duck scream in pain from unloading an egg, though the AFLAC Duck could have a gender operation and loudly yell while sitting on its nest. From an evolutionary viewpoint the birthing process makes some sense. Protect the child in the womb versus trying to prevent predators from stealing your eggs. It's still a lot of pain. Evolution doesn't claim to be perfect in its design, which is why there is often a lot of trial and error. Speaking of which, if you're a creationist you have to accept that this painful birthing process is a reminder of Eve's original sin. Why the collectivist concept of all women being punished for one individual's mistake is beyond me--aren't we in America? Aren't we individuals? If Christian women were true to their faith they would not accept painkillers. They would thank God for the pain. They would share in the pain of their Christian sisters and of the pain of their first mother. So stop wimping out Concerned Women for America, I want to see a boycott against all painkillers for pregnant women. |
